This giant sculpture by Seward Johnson is based on the famous photo of Marilyn Monroe by Bernard of Hollywood and is located right next to the Chicago Tribune tower on Michigan Avenue. I had to be patient to get these shots because there were so many guys posing underneath her and looking up while having their pictures taken.

Such an iconic image Lois, all I can say is thank goodness she had knickers on haha!!
You got the right photo, very funny such a big Marilyn!
Great sculpture and great images. :) It is nice to remember that Marilyn wasn't toothpick skinny the way so many entertainment people try to be today.
Lois, what fun! I haven't been to Chicago where I spent my young adult life for quite awhile now. The new wing to the Chicago Art Institute and this marvelous statue which you presented so well, are calling me back.
I have been at this square a little more than a year ago, but I did not notice this statue. It must be new. If it were there at the time, I think I would have noticed it.
You got me laughing at the guys looking up! Too funny!
Nice shots of this iconic statue...I've seen other photos, but like yours the best!
I can only imagine how long you had to wait for these pics! We have a Seward Johnson statue in Sarasota. It's just as tall and attracts probably as much attention. Happy New Year!
I think you are right Dave. I was there two years ago and it wasn't there then.
hahaha......nice shots
Hee-hee. Sexy WITHOUT a g-string.
Super photos. I wish you and your family a wonderful 2012. (PS - I still remember fondly being in Jacksonville & St. Aug. in December.) It was beautiful there.
Most of today's actresses would not be wearing underwear! At least Marilyn had some class. ;)
Ha ha, it was worth the wait. Its a classic shot, Lois.
~:)
Oh la la! Voila it's Marilyn! Happy New Year!
Lois - please take a look at my Brazilian friend's new CDP blog:

Now I know what I'm gonna wear for Carnival! Thanks, Lois! Rob
