This great egret was fishing for his lunch at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge when we visited last weekend. We watched him swallow several small fish, but he was too quick for my camera! Lucky bird to have a "grocery" so close and handy. Thanks for your remarks on the bird feeder on my blog. It's terrific, isn't it? I think I'm going to try to attract humming birds this year.l We provide food all winter long, but stop feeding and time it 'til most babies have left the nests so everyone is then on their own until cold weather sets in again.

Head and neck are so narrow it seems almost unreal
