An osprey sits on top of a dead palm tree trunk at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge just south of Tallahassee. In the second shot, he is eating a fish that he caught in the water below. To see more beautiful skies from around the world, visit SkyWatch Friday.

What a beautiful photo of the bird against the blue sky.
Good one for Skywatch. I never tire of seeing birds of prey, especially when they're eating a nice big fish.
Cool capture...I'm sky watching for some rain!
Great captures, Lois! Love osprey enjoying his meal and what beautiful blue, blue skies! Hope you have a great, storm-free weekend!
Sylvia
Beautiful bird there and the composition with the blue sky is magnificent!

Fantastic, Lois!
Now that's a skywatch shot.
Very nice "take" of the osprey. The sky is nice and blue--bet you are having great weather there.
Have a nice weekend. Mickie :)
Wow! Do you have any idea how envious I am that you saw this? In the UK these lovely birds are incredibly rare and every nest is guarded! I have only ever seen them on one occasion, and then I made a special trip. Thanks for sharing your osprey with us and happy skywatching :)
Oooo how cool! I have never seen an osprey before. He is a beautiful bird!
What a beautiful bird against that slate blue sky.
Not a cloud in the sky
There the osprey will fly
When he eats all the fish
Which he finds so delish!
Wow1 I was watching a pair of ospreys in the Lake District, who are nesting near Bassenthwaite Lake. Even through a strong telescope I didn't get this good a view, though.
simple but meaningful pics..

Thanks for capturing these ospreys for those who don't see them very often.
Great shots! I love osprey.
Somehow I let a week slip by of no blogging. I need to get stocked up on photos so I don't run out again!
Nice capture of the Osprey enjoying his lunch.. Miss Bird Lover :)
Have a wonderful weekend,
Pam
You have so many intersting birds where you live! The first shot is fantastic, he looks so regal sitting there. Lovely photos!
