There was a little golf tournament called The Players Championship going on this weekend in Ponte Vedra Beach which is just south of Jacksonville. I happened to be over there to visit a friend on Saturday and I didn't realize the traffic nightmare I was getting into just trying to get to her house! I haven't seen that many ticket scalpers on the side of the road since the last big FSU football rivalry game in Tallahassee. I took this picture for Jacob over at Ocala Florida Fotos. It was as close as I got to the actual golf course.

Oh, terrible such a traffic-nightmare. The photo looks quiet.
LOL, I can only imagine. I used to work behind the Four Seasons in Las Colinas, where they play the Bryon Nelson tournament, it was a nightmare.
If you had gotten much closer, you could not have taken your camera.
I love golf tournaments but the traffic and congestion can be bothersome.
I have never played golf before but it's really popular here lately! Great shot of the entrance...that's about as close as I've gotten to a golf course, too :D
Thank you, Lois...we were over in that area last June but didn't get to play golf. However, I watched most of the tournament this past weekend...very exciting. And this is an incredibly beautiful golf course!
Re the comment on the gator - yeah, lost all those comments! You think he looks groggy, heh? That's a pretty good insult for a Seminole...he's supposed to look fierce! :-)
Re the big tree on Florida Photos - I'm guessing this is a water oak and they do come down in big storms so they are rather scary!
I have never gotten into golf. Don't know why, except that the only sports I can sit and watch is NASCAR. I know ... 'Go fast, turn left'!
I intended to watch the Players Championship this weekend, but never got to it. Too busy. I love watching the touring players. They hit some shots I will never hit in my life, but they also hit into ponds and bounce the balls off the trees, just like I do.
Pictures can lie a bit... looks deserted.
