This is something I saw quite a bit when I was growing up, but not so much anymore. This mailman was making his deliveries on foot in a neighborhood close to downtown Tallahassee.

I love it! You don't see this much anymore, do you?! I wonder how he survives in August? Neither rain, sleet, hail....nor the brutal humidity of an August day in Florida.....
Around here, they usually stop their truck and then walk to 8 - 10 houses and then move the truck and do it again.
On foot delivery is rapidly disappearing.
Here the postman walks a lot every day!
I use to send letters for my mommy in Brazil because she doesn't use computers. So the fashionable way still working well!

You're right! We don't see many people of foot here either.
That's funny, I have the mailbox on my blog, where he can put in his post.
I love to see the mail carriers walking around downtown....so friendly and safe looking to me.
They must deliver by foot in Toronto. Our new house has a porch mailbox. Something I haven't seen since I was a kid!
Funny! Our postmen go by motorbike or by car and do not wear short pants :)
Our postmen wear short pants and long socks too - I wonder why?
This is how we get our mail.
You are so right...not too many walk their routes anymore, but I've seen them walking near downtown Ocala, too, where the houses are close together. A nice reminder of "way back when" - when things seemed a little simpler...I think.
I know where that is! The mailman around my way has been wearing his pith helmet - summer is here.
