Well, I am going to be hoping that he released the turtle safely in a good place, and that the kid washed his hands well after handling the turtle. (Gosh, I am SO responsible these days.)
I think you're right...generally, I've found turtles prefer to be left alone. And this one's head is out like it's ready to fight. Not scared at all!
