Baby Wrens

These four baby wrens are sitting in their nest waiting for their mama to come feed them. The nest is located in the folded up camp chair (shown in the second picture) which is sitting on my son and daughter-in-law's back porch. While I was taking their picture, mama bird was fluttering around waiting for me to get out of the way so she could bring them some tasty treats. If you look closely at the baby in the bottom of the picture, you will see a little heart shaped mouth!

Great photo. Birds build their nests in strange places, but this is one of the strangest.

Last year at the end of the season we cleared out several nests from the roll-out window awnings on the west side of our Scottsdale house, but this year the sparrows are back again and we have several more nests and the delightful chirps of the baby birds.

Imagine that...what a place to find a nest!

Nice one, Lois! It is such an odd choice of a nesting place. I posted a robin's nest a week ago. The baby robins are huge now and keeping their parents busy feeding them worms.

Oh my goodness---birds pick the strangest places to nest. Those little (or big) mouths are so sweet. MB

I love the little heart shaped mouth begging for a bug. There will be 'No Sitting' for awhile till they fly.
Nice shot, Lois.

be well and happy

You should be proud...we had wrens building nests in the most unlikely places at our Ocala house, one being in a planter hanging on a wall on the deck. I'd stand up on a chair and try to get pictures of the babies but never was successful. You did really well. Glad Mama Wren didn't attack you!

Are these cute, but how is it possible, to find a place like this to build a nest?

I just took a picture of wren eggs in a motorcycle helmet! They'll be babies soon. This is great.

Wonderful capture. I wonder what Mama was thinking when she constructed her nest on the chair. That baby's mouth is enormous compared to the rest of its body.

I really hope they make it. Being that low down they may become easy prey for neighborhood cats. It is a nice picture. I don't think I have ever seen a nest of wrens before.

Amazing place for a nest - your family will have to sit on a rug until the babies have fledged!
