There has been some talk about closing state parks lately due to the budget shortfall in the State of Florida, so I thought I would feature the state park closest to my house. You can read more about the Lake Jackson Mounds here.

It would be sad to close such a beautiful park, I hope it will be kept open.
Those are neat, I grew up near Cahokia Mounds. They always are digging on some part of the mounds finding stuff.
During budget shortfalls, there's always talk of cutting public safety positions and closing parks. It gets a bit tiresome. ((sigh)) This looks like a lovely state park for the public to explore.
It seems like everybody has budget shortfalls.
I hope the parks don't suffer from all the budget cuts. We have had several small and one large park close out this way.
So what relics are found at the Mounds? MB
They talk about closing the state parks up here too. I think it is a ruse.
Wonderful park, I would love visiting there and I like a lot the star in the second picture!

I hope it doesn't close!!! I like the name of it, if nothing else. :D
This looks like it would be very interesting to visit. The stairs make me curious....I'd climb up there to take a look around!
Here's hoping, Lois.
Before they close a single Park I think the state should ask for volunteers to help manage the park system. I would be glad to help out to keep them open.
Nice post, Lois.
Thanks for following a southern oldie :)
