Watery Wednesday

Posted by Picasa

Chapman Pond is located in the Myers Park neighborhood of Tallahassee. I took this picture on a cold morning and the geese were not very friendly. If you click on the picture and enlarge it, you can see a great egret back there on the other side of the pond. Beautiful stillness and wildlife. The egrit is so graceful, I love it.

Thanks for this watery beauty, Lois.

It doesn't look very cold,,,,,but oh how I know it was.....warming up around here and then, of course, rain!

I guess the geese don't want to be disturbed while they are looking for a meal!

Whether the geese were friendly or not the picture captures a serene quality. I see the egret. Nice.

It's a lovely, tranquil scene. I'm so glad you pointed out the egret - when enlarged, the trees and the lighting around it makes a spectacular close up. Are you staying warm??

You know, Lois... I very seldom run into geese who are "friendly". Maybe "loudy", "snappy", or "bitey", but never really "friendly" (I like to make up words that sound good together).
Thanks for including large expandable photo links so I can catch things like the egret.

Maybe the geese were just trying to stay warm...it's a very nice scene and I'm sure it's pretty all year long.

The geese around here are never very friendly. Hope you are warming up as we are!

Very peaceful. I envy the geese, being able to stay there all day long.

Lovely shot, Lois, and I really like the reflections of the trees.

Geese, I have found, are generally not friendly. Or maybe it's me. But they have a tendency to chase me and nip at me whenever I come around them!

Beautiful pond picture. The geese here are not usually friendly either. Even when you have something for them to eat!

We don't have great egrets here, but we have snowy egrets which I understand are similar. How wonderful to have caught him in your shot!

I'm a little cranky on cold mornings too, so it's hard to blame the geese.

What a beautiful place! I love the great egret standing so silently. They are such beautiful birds. Great photo!

we have a similar lake in Auckland New Zealand called Western Springs. The geese are never friendly. Sometimes when they charge at you, it can be quite frightening.

Your photo is great for weekend reflection as well. Very serene photo if we ignore the ferocious geese.
