Tough little birds

These pigeons were trying to keep warm in the sunshine on a sidewalk in Chicago one morning last week. The temperature was 3 degrees F with a wind chill of MINUS 15 degrees F when we woke up, but had warmed up to 12 degrees F when I took this picture. Click on the picture to enlarge it and you will see how fluffed up their feathers are.

I can't imagine how cold 3 degrees is, Lois...Brrr! We all know what a kind hearted softy you are, I'm surprised you didn't put them in you pocket and bring back to Florida.
