Close Call
I had just walked past this area of Lake Ella the other day when I heard a loud noise. I turned around just in time to see this van barreling toward the lake. Just when I thought it was going into the water, it stopped right at the edge! It seems the driver was headed down a steep road that interesects with the road than runs around the lake and the brakes on the van failed. A truck was going by at the time and the van hit the back end of the truck, which probably slowed it down. Fortunately no people or ducks were injured in this mishap, but it sure was scary!

There are better and safer ways of getting a "car wash!"
It's crazy out there. Be careful.
if you have luck in an accident - this was it
Wow, I'm glad no one was injured. They are very lucky they didn't have to take a swim with the ducks.
Nice capture, Lois.
Wow, that's a close one!
wow you are brave to return and take a picture, I could not do it. Thanks God no one was injured.
Take care!

Wow - sounds scary. I'm glad they're okay. And that you got it all on film - or digital card!
That is a pretty darn close call!
Sounds like a scary few minutes...it's amazing how fast things like this happen. I've never had brakes fail but I've driven on ice when the car refused to stop - that's rather frightening, too.
Once again, Lois, you had your camera at an opportune time!
They were lucky not to end up with the ducks in the water.
Sunny :)
Wow. Those are some lucky people - hope they went out and bought a lottery ticket! I'm glad they (and you) are safe now.
Scary situation for sure. I imagine the drivers and any passengers had to have been shaken pretty badly.
(You are quick with that camera!)
Lucky ducks!! Lucky you! :D
Photo op---why we always carry a camera---and aren't afraid to use it. LOL
I am glad no people or ducks were harmed. MB
Whoa! Thank goodness everyone was okay.
I guess that was a scary crash for everyone.
Phew! I'm glad no one was hurt! Isn't it strange to be close to something like that?
I remember when my children and I followed a half a house on a semi--watched the top explode in sections as it hit a railroad bridge--it was like being in a movie for reals.
All the waterways and canals were one of the things I was always scared of living in Florida. That van driver was very lucky!
Wow! Good thing they managed to stop it in time. Reminds me of the time I was following a car leaking gas. We managed to stop the woman driving it and get her out just before it burst into flames. Scary!
I too, am glad no one was hurt. Another twenty feet or so and who knows? Boy, you were at the right place at the right time weren't you?
These things happy so quickly.
Glad you're ok and the ducks too. :)
