Bird Fair!

Posted by Picasa

Last weekend, my grandson and I went to the 20th Annual Exotic Bird Fair sponsored by the Big Bend Bird Club held at the North Florida Fairgrounds in Tallahassee. We saw these Macaws as soon as we walked into the fair. Anyone who knows me knows I am a bird lover, so needless to say, I took lots of pictures and will be showing them on my blog this week.

These are very bright beautiful birds. Not sure I would want one in my house though.

Just love those bright colors! I'm amazed: they didn't try to fly away?

Polly want a cracker? Who are Polly's friends?! Fun photo, Lois!

Hilda-these birds were very tame. They even let you pet them. The one in the foreground is actually asleep.
Marcel-they did have lovebirds! They are a favorite of mine too.

They are so colorful, Lois. You and your grandson must have been thrilled to see all those beautiful birds. Nice memory :)

I'm so glad I've seen them in their natural habitat flying over my head!

Do they have their wings clipped? I'm amazed they don't fly away, even if they are tame. They are beauties!

Lots of color! You must have been in bird heaven! 20th anniversary? Wow.

I have a good friend who raises small birds...Nick from DuBary...I'll bet he was there!

I thought that one was asleep Lois but wasn't sure. They must be so tame to be able to sleep in this context...

I too was wondering if the wings had been clipped. I would imagine those stroong beaks could create havoc in vegetation. The colours are magnificent.

Glad you got the chance to go Lois. Is one of them going to mysteriously follow you home?

I love Macaws! I always said that I keep mine at the zoo. The Tulsa Zoo has a pair of Blue Hyacinth Macaws and one time one of them told me to shutup. HAHAHA!
